Why I joined Alpha Phi: I grew up hearing that when you join a sorority it is a lifelong journey.  Little did I know how true that would be.  Upon landing in the courtyard of Sigma I knew it was the right choice.  Although I have many fond memories from the four years living in the house, it is now that I appreciate and enjoy the sisterhood and friendships built along the way. From the first day of pledging up to today I continue to be in awe of the amazing women who are a part of Alpha Phi.

Why I love Seattle: As a Seattle native, I have only moved from the area once for a few short years right out of college which gave me a greater appreciation for family, friends and all the great things the Seattle area has to offer.  Seattle, through the good and even bumpy times has remained home.  I grew up and to this day spend Saturdays on Montlake which also has led to  friends and amazing adventures.  I love spending time on the water, attending UW Husky events, volunteering for Alpha Phi, and am fortunate to work for a well respected northwest based company.

Collegiate Chapter: Iota Gamma - University of the Pacific & Beta Rho - Washington State University

Hometown: Whidbey Island, WA

Why I joined Alpha Phi: University of the Pacific was a small school and freshman were not initiated until 2nd semester of the academic year. By the time recruitment commenced I had already met several members of the chapter on campus and was inspired by the Fraternity members and their involvement in a wide variety of activities on campus and in the community. Joining Alpha phi and then transferring to Washington State introduced some of the most genuine, humble, caring, driven, strong women into my life and over my college years I made memories that will forever cherish. I gained a few of my best friends through Alpha Phi and I got more out of the experience than I could have ever imagined.

Why I love Seattle: This city, surrounded by water, mountains and the evergreen forests, has everything to offer! Not only does Seattle offer unparalleled exposure to the great outdoors, but also an exciting restaurant/brewery scene, performing arts and home to some great music. In my free time, I enjoy teaching yoga, gardening, playing board games, backpacking with friends, biking and experimenting in the kitchen with a new recipe. In 2020, I moved back to the Pacific Northwest after relocating for work to various cities around the country. While I enjoyed each city I traveled to, Seattle has always had my heart and will forever be “home”.

Why I joined Alpha Phi: This answer is simple.  I joined this particular group for it is filled with strong, independent women whom share the same morals and values that I do.   I was impressed to learn of not only their character, however their generosity, kindness, charitable inclination and open mind set.

Why I love Seattle: I have called Seattle home since I was five.  I only once moved away, however it is just like Dorothy said, there’s no place like home.  I love this city for our passionate 12s to our amazing landscape.  I am obsessed with water, whether its liquid or frozen you can always find me out on the water or up skiing.

Collegiate Chapter: Sigma

Hometown: Meridian, ID

Why I joined Alpha Phi: Coming to Seattle from out of state and knowing only 2 people at the university, I knew I wanted to rush. I was looking for more than just friends, I was looking for a home away from home; somewhere I felt accepted for just being me. I found that and so much more at Alpha Phi. I found a community of women that I am proud to belong to. The women of Alpha Phi are intelligent, strong, passionate, kind, and, yes, fun. We can be found all across the world and in every industry. Wherever I go in life, I know there will be an Alpha Phi close by.

Why I love Seattle: There is nothing quite like summer in Seattle. Those beautiful blue sky days help us forget how rainy and cloudy the long fall/winter months last. Seeing the mountain out always puts a smile on my face. While it can be challenging to make friends in the city (Seattle freeze, anyone?), the people who live here are some of the most accepting that I’ve come across. I love how there is always something going on in the city…collegiate & professional sports, music, art, boating, hiking, skiing, gardening…if you can think of it, you can do it in Seattle.
